Social Studies & History Tutors

Megan

After growing up in St. Louis, Meg attended Denison University where she studied History and Organizational Studies. As a part of the Teach For America – Eastern North Carolina Corps, she brought her love of history to her middle school social studies scholars.  Meg integrated reading and writing skills into her classroom as well as thesis papers and primary document analysis. Meg worked with her students to prepare them for their state reading test through after school tutoring and review.  Her students not only developed the skills to analyze themes in history and current events, but consistently improved their mastery of social studies content and reading comprehension test scores.  Beyond her passion for history, cooking, and reading, Meg is an avid field hockey and St. Louis Blues fan. She is excited to be back in St. Louis and ready to cheer her team on this winter!

“(Megan) not only taught her students the Social Studies curriculum, but also, how to be functioning members of society. In addition to her meticulous planning and execution of her lessons, (Megan) invests her students in the learning process…It is rare to find her classroom empty after school and not uncommon to find a group of 10 or more students working on a project or reviewing for a test.” – Mr. M, team leader and fellow seventh grade teacher

“(Megan) was my favorite teacher.  I liked her because she was very organized with our learning and it was easy to understand.  She was serious about us being ready for college but she taught us in a fun way.” – Gabi, seventh grade Social Studies student
